AWO participates in the first regional conference: “Arab Libraries and Information centers Digital Map”

 AWO will participate in the first regional conference, “Arab Libraries and Information centers Digital Map”, which will be held under the patronage of the Secretary General of LAS, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at its headquarters on 8 and 9 July 2019.

The conference will be attended by a number of Arab Ministers of Culture, Permanent Delegates of the Arab States of LAS, Arab Directors and Librarians in various qualitative sectors and a number of specialists in the field of libraries and information in the Arab countries.

The conference addresses a number of topics including: the emergence of Arab Libraries and Information centers Digital Map and the most important achievements and services, and the presentation of experiences of some Arab countries in this area, and how cooperation, care and community contribution available to institutions and individuals.

The conference will also include accompanying workshops: the role of the digital map in activating the sustainable development of libraries and Arab information centers, and the steps of monitoring and recording of Arab library institutions within the interactive digital map platform.

It is worth mentioning that Arab Libraries and Information centers Digital Map, launched last year, is the first Arab non-profit project to enhance the geographical information awareness of Arab libraries and information centers of all types and categories. It also provides an Arab indicator for these institutions to monitor their reality and provide them with the necessary support to achieving sustainable development goals in Arab societies.
