Today, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Arab Women Organization (AWO) convened a closed virtual workshop to present and discuss the "Guide to Concepts in Women's Issues: An Introduction to Understanding Gender-Based Inequality and Standardizing Terminology."

The virtual workshop was inaugurated by Professor Fadia Kiwan, Director-General of the Organization. The session featured a presentation of the guide by its author, Professor Maysoon Al-Otoom, Director of the Center for Women's Studies at the University of Jordan. This was followed by commentaries and discussions from Professor Hala Kamal (Professor of English Literature and Feminist Studies at Cairo University) and Professor Marlene Heydar (Dean of the Institute of Social Sciences at the Lebanese University).

The development of this guide comes as a response by the Organization to the ambiguity and confusion surrounding concepts and terminology used in women's issues within the Arab region. The workshop was held to further develop the guide and enrich it with diverse academic perspectives.
