The AWO is an intergovernmental organization affiliated with the League of Arab States and headquartered in Egypt. The League of Arab States Council approved the establishment of the organization, which emerged from 'Cairo Declaration' adopted by the conference of the ‘ first Arab Women’s Summit in November 2000" in response to the invitation of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak.
