Egyptian Woman Secures First Place in Regional "Certified Anti-Corruption Manager" Program in Jordan

Ms. Lamia Mohamed Gamal El-Din Abdel Fattah, Deputy General Manager at the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), has achieved an unprecedented feat by securing first place in the 19th session of the Certified Anti-Corruption Manager (CACM) program. Organized by the Union of Arab Banks and delivered by The American Anti-Corruption Institute (The AACI) in Amman, Jordan, the program is a rigorous certification designed for decision-makers to institutionalize corruption prevention, including fraud and money laundering.
Breaking a record held since the program's inception in March 2019, Ms. Lamia is the first woman in history to claim the top rank across 19 regional cycles. She achieved a remarkable score of 93/100, the highest ever recorded in the history of the program’s in-person sessions.
In light of this distinguished achievement, the Arab Women Organization (AWO) media team interviewed Ms. Lamia to discuss her journey, the challenges of the regulatory sector, and her vision for women in governance.

1. Q: What was the core content of the program you participated in, and was your participation a personal initiative or a nomination from your employer?
A: "I am honored to have earned the CACM certification with an 'Excellence' grade. My participation was a nomination from the Central Bank of Egypt as part of its professional development plan. The program covered advanced topics like Risk-Based Supervision, financial crime detection, and AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism) frameworks."
2. On Women’s Presence in Banking Supervision:
"Women’s presence in banking supervision is not only growing but becoming highly influential. Women are now leading inspection teams and occupying senior management roles. The nature of regulatory work requires extreme precision and analytical depth—skills that women have proven to employ with high efficiency."
3. Vision for the Future of Auditing & Supervision:
"My vision, reinforced by this program, focuses on four pillars: deepening Risk-Based methodologies, investing in Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for data analysis, updating legislative frameworks to combat emerging financial crimes, and embedding Integrity as a sustainable institutional value."
