Arab Women Organization Launches Arab Girl and Technology Award for 2026

The Arab Women Organization (AWO) announces the opening of applications for the third edition of its 'Arab Girl and Technology Award 2026,' launching in conjunction with the celebration of the International Girls in ICT Day.

The award targets young female innovators aged 8 to 24, encouraging them to enter the fields of technology and digital innovation.

The objectives of the award include:

Encouraging Arab girls to specialize and engage in the fields of information and communications technology (ICT), empowering them to develop digital solutions that serve women and society, and supporting digital creativity and innovation among Arab girls.

 

Award Topics:

The award’s themes vary across its different editions. For this year, applicants are required to submit either an (online awareness campaign) or an (innovative website/application) addressing one of the issues related to the award’s tracks. The submitted work must contribute to empowering women or serving Arab society by using technological tools and applications to solve a real-world problem affecting women in the Arab region.

 

The award tracks include:

Cybersecurity and digital safety.

Utilizing artificial intelligence to serve society.

Digital skills and future jobs.

Combating violence against women.

Food security.

Environmental conservation.

Psychological support for girls and women.

Digital literacy and educational issues.

Women's economic empowerment through the use of websites and applications to buy and sell products.

 

The award targets three age groups:

First age group: 8 to 11 years old.

Second age group: 12 to 17 years old.

Third age group: 18 to 24 years old.

 

Application requirements for the two categories of the award:

 

First: Online Awareness Campaign: The campaign must focus on raising awareness of a women-related societal issue within the award’s tracks. Submissions must include: a concept note for the campaign in PDF format, an introductory video of the applicant and the campaign, a promotional awareness video, an explanation of how impact is measured, and links to the published content.

Second: Applied Digital Innovation (Application/Website/Robot): The innovation must address a women-related social issue using technological tools. Submissions must include: a concept note for the innovation, an introductory video, a demo video of the project, a prototype or user interface (UI) mockups, and a document outlining the workflow and scalability.

 

Application Conditions:

  • Application is open to girls in the aforementioned age groups.

  • Application is open to Arab member states of the Organization.

  • Submissions must be submitted individually.

  • The work must be original, innovative, and must not have won any previous awards.

  • In case two original works are submitted, each will be evaluated separately.

     

Evaluation Criteria:

  • The submitted work must demonstrate:

    • High Level of Innovation: A strong degree of creativity and originality in the proposed idea.

    • Clear Social Impact: A tangible community impact that directly serves women's and societal causes.

    • Technical Quality: Excellence in the design and execution of the technological solution.

    • Structured Presentation: A clear, well-organized, and professional presentation of the idea.

    • Scalability and Sustainability: The potential for future development and continuity after the initial project implementation.

 

 

  Awards: The Organization presents 10 major awards distributed as follows:

  1. Awareness Campaigns: One award for the first category, two awards for the second category, and two awards for the third category.

  2. Digital Innovation: One award for the first category, two awards for the second category, and two awards for the third category. The awards include: official certificates of appreciation, valuable in-kind prizes, and specialized training opportunities in software and digital innovation.
