Arab Women Organization honors Arab girls on Arab Women's day

 On Tuesday February 5th 2019, AWO raised the flags of the Arab member states on its headquarters facade. The festivity was accompanied by the national anthems of each country and coincided with the anniversary of Arab Women's Day.

On this occasion, Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director General of the Organization, stressed the need for governments and Arab societies to work together to develop legislation and adopt policies that are friendly to women and girls, to empower women economically and empower women to participate in political life, and development of education, culture and information.

Dr Kiwan pointed out that this event is an opportunity to honor Arab girls who are distinguished by their school performance and are the future of the Arab world.

And that this honor came to express our solidarity with the suffering of girls in some Arab countries that have been subjected to armed conflicts.

Among the participants in the celebration were H.E. Ghania El Dalia Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Issues in Algeria, Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General for Social Affairs of the League of Arab States.
Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women in Egypt, Ambassador Riyad Al-Akbari, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Diab Al-Louh, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Mr. Mohamed Naciri, Regional Director of UN Women, and a group of representatives of Arab embassies.
