The Arab Women Organization (AWO) is holding a regional workshop for Arab parliamentarians discussing " Gender Justice in Legislative and Public Policy-Making", On Monday, July 29, July 2024 till 31/7/2024, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Republic of Egypt Arabic.
The three-day workshop aims to exchange experiences and initiate consultancy among parliamentarians on the status Legislative process in Arab parliaments with regards to promote women's issues and developing legislation and formulating policies related to this field.
The workshop will address the division of roles in constitutional authorities, and the necessity of integrating women's issues into national sustainable development strategies. It will also address the electoral systems, and the role of political parties in the process.
The workshop will also review the role of women parliamentarians in compacting corruption, facing the challenges of food security, fighting against terrorism, women in peace and security, gender responsive budgets.
Delegations from eleven Arab countries and representatives of the Arab Parliament will participate in the workshop.
The workshop should issue recommendations that will be adopted by the Arab Women Organization in collaboration with WoMena – German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and UN Women in its upcoming joint activities.
