Statement by AWO
The Arab Women Organization expressed its surprise and indignation towards the campaign that some Israeli parties are mobilizing against Dr. Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women because she visited the region and reported to the UN Security Council about the situation of women and children affected by the aggression against Gaza.
Most probably, those who are campaigning are embarrassed because that report revealed the truth and the public opinion could remember the repetitive Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian civilians in the Arab occupied territories.
The public opinion could remember also how the Israeli Government ignored all former Arab peace initiatives, extended its settlements in the Arab occupied territories and aborted all former peace initiatives.
The field visit of Dr. Bahous and her report were honest, courageous and helpful.
Should we contest the reference of a senior official of the UN to the International humanitarian Law and Peace and Security Conventions?
The voice of Dr. Bahous expressed an ethical conviction of any free conscious.
All women of the Arab world, from the Gulf to the Ocean pay a tribute to Dr. Sima Bahous.
All free consciouses in the world command her initiative.
